Have you ever wondered just what a chiropractic adjustment does? What’s the point? And how does it work?
Chiropractic adjustments are specific – they’re delivered at the precise spot where the patient has some sort of misalignment. The adjustment itself acts to normalize the movement of the spinal joint, right at the nerve root. This removes irritation and normalizes that nerve’s function.
See, each nerve that branches out from the spine has purpose. Nerves carry instructions from the brain, and are the things that allow organs and muscles to function. A chiropractic adjustment simply removes interference in that process – typically by moving a joint back into place so that nothing gets in the way (literally) of each nerve in your body working the way it should!
Don’t Hesitate, Give It a Try
Maybe you’re afraid a chiropractic adjustment will hurt. Or you’re hesitant to try something you don’t fully understand.
Rest assured we’ll answer your questions up front. And treat you with dignity. Before adjusting patients, I always explain the position I am placing their body in, and that the position is designed to isolate the part of the spine causing pain and irritation.
As I continue on to perform an adjustment, I explain as I go, so that you are confident and know what to expect. I’ll stretch a segment of spine and place my hand on that spinal joint in order to mobilize it. When I move the joint, you might hear a small clicking sound – like when you accidentally crack your back or pop your knuckles. But you won’t feel pain.”
